I just did my first top-end rebuild and this book was indispensable. Yes, it's expensive, but there is no comparison between this (the official manual) and Haynes's products. It covers so many different models of Volkswagen that the editors produced a volume well over a thousand pages and printed the book on thin paper to make it manageable. It is adequate, but lacks some of the quality of many of Bentleys other editions. For example, the volume is filled with simple ink drawings rather than the clear photos that are found in manuals covering other vehicles, such as BMW and Porsche.
