Immortals: The Crossing
Customer Reviews [1] Rating: 4 Date: 2008-09-30 Summary: exciting fantasy ... The half breed Sidhe demigod Manannan Mac Lir thought his heroics saving the Immortal warrior Tain would lead to a glorious final victory for good vs. evil (see Jennifer Ashley's IMMORTALS: THE REDEEMING). He proved only partially correct as Tain and that half she-demon cop Samantha found each other; however Mac has learned the wisdom of the old adage of the road to hell is paved with good intentions. His soul is now a carrier of death magic. Faeries ask Mac to help them when a death magic spell is gradually killing ...more

For Manannan mac Lir, known as Sidhe, demigod and Guardian of Celtic Magical Creatures, life was one endless party, seven hundred years of light hearted jokes. A popular musician, fans flock to him, tracking his very movements. Mac could have any woman he wanted. When he hears a report of a death magic attack on Gilraen's ...more

The Joy of Mixology: The Consummate Guide to the Bartender's Craft
Customer Reviews [1] Rating: 4 Date: 2008-08-05 Summary: Great book but excessive on personal creations ... Mr. Regan does a very good job with the history of the cocktail, a select group of important cocktails to know how to make, and a "drink families" guide to help the aspiring bartender remember just what is which and which is what (or something like that). I would caution that Mr. Regan embellishes a little too much on his personal creations, or "drink family" of squirrels. No one would ever stock the nonsense that he places in this family at a common bar. In conclusion, cut off about 50 pages of this book and you have ...more
[2] Rating: 4 Date: 2007-11-02 Summary: Excellent ... Excellent book if you are interested in the theory and history of mixology and not just recipes. I only wish he had devoted more effort and space to my favorite liquor, rum. ...more

Gary Regan’s The Joy of Mixology is such a gem, one whose genius lies in Regan’s breakthrough system for categorizing drinks that helps bartenders—both professionals and amateurs alike—not only to remember drink recipes but also to invent their own. For example, once you understand that the Margarita is a member of the New Orleans Sour Family, you’ll instantly see that a Kamikaze is just a vodka-based Margarita; a Cosmopolitan...more
